Block Party is a fast survival minigame built for Rust. A grid of colored metal tiles spawns across the arena, a color is announced on-screen and in chat, and you have seconds to reach a tile that matches and stand on it. When the timer runs out, every tile that isn't the called color is destroyed — miss your footing and you plummet through the gaps to your death.

It is pure reaction and spatial awareness with no combat at all. Each wave is harder than the last: the reaction window shrinks from five seconds down to two, and new colors are mixed into the grid every couple of waves, thinning out the number of safe tiles you can run to. How long can you survive?

It started as a solo format — one player per arena, with multiple arenas running side by side — but multiplayer support has since been added, so you can now share an arena and see who reads the floor fastest when the colors start disappearing. Your wave count is recorded on the leaderboard either way.

How to play

  1. 01

    Enter the portal

Walk through the Block Party portal in the lobby hub to queue up.

  2. 02

    Read the floor

A grid of colored tiles spawns, each randomly assigned one of up to 16 colors.

  3. 03

    React fast

A color is called — reach a matching tile and stand on it before time runs out.

  4. 04

    Survive the cut

Every wrong-color tile is destroyed. Outlast the escalating waves.

Pro tips

  • Scan for a cluster of your color, not the single nearest tile — a group gives you room to correct your footing.
  • Keep moving toward the arena's open lanes; getting boxed in when the grid thins out is what gets people killed.
  • As the timer drops toward two seconds, commit early — hesitating past the halfway point rarely ends well.

Frequently asked questions

What is Block Party in Rust?

Block Party is a survival minigame where a grid of colored tiles spawns beneath you. A color is called out and you have seconds to stand on a matching tile before every other tile is destroyed. Miss it and you fall to your death.

Is Block Party solo or multiplayer?

Both. It launched as a solo format with one player per arena, but multiplayer support has been added, so you can share an arena with others. Your wave count is tracked on the leaderboard in either mode.

How does the difficulty scale?

Each wave gets harder. The reaction window shrinks from five seconds down to a minimum of two, and new colors are added every couple of waves — starting at 12 and climbing to a maximum of 16 — so there are fewer safe tiles to reach.
